Make a Paddle key for Expiring Codes
Expiring Codes works with Paddle Billing (the current Paddle). It needs an API key that can read and write discounts, and nothing else.
- In Paddle, open Developer tools, then Authentication.
- Under API keys, click New API key. Name it Expiring Codes.
- Under permissions, give Discounts read and write. Leave the rest off.
- Save, copy the key (it starts with
pdl_live_apikey_) and paste it into your Expiring Codes settings.
Paddle keys can have an end date. If you set one, put a reminder in your calendar to make a new key before it ends, or codes will stop being created.
Let customers enter the code
Paddle checkout shows an "Add discount" link by default. Each code works once, until its deadline, on any of your products unless you limit it in the step's Only for these products setting.
To fill the code in for the reader, put your Paddle checkout link (pay.paddle.io/…) in the Expiring code block's Button link: we add the code to it. For any other link, write {code} where the code should go. If your site opens Paddle checkout with Paddle.js, your developer can pass the code from that link as discountCode.
