How codes are counted
One code is one subscriber getting one offer. A subscriber who passes the same offer step again while their code is still good gets it back, and that doesn't count again. If their code was used or has expired, they get a fresh one, which counts. The count resets on the 1st of each month.
A paid plan has room to spare: if a launch goes better than planned, you get up to 20% more codes that month at no charge, and your settings show a banner from 80% on (with an upgrade button once paid plans open). Only past that extra 20% do new subscribers wait at the step, until the 1st or until you upgrade. Nobody ever gets the email without a code.
Compared with Coupon Carrier
Coupon Carrier is the best-known tool for unique codes, and it does more than we do: more checkouts and a dozen email tools. If you sell with Stripe or Paddle and email with Kit, here's how the two compare.
| Expiring Codes | Coupon Carrier | |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 codes a month | $29 a month, or $290 a year | $49 a month, or $29 a month paid yearly |
| 10,000 codes a month | $69 a month, or $690 a year | $179 a month, or $99 a month paid yearly |
| Free to keep using | 25 codes every month | 7-day trial (50 codes) |
| Over your limit | Up to 20% extra free, then subscribers wait | $0.05 a code on its smallest plan ($0.02 on the next) |
| How it joins Kit | A step inside your Visual Automation | Watches a Kit form or tag, then writes the code to a custom field |
| Checkouts | Stripe and Paddle | Stripe and many other checkouts |
Coupon Carrier's prices are from their pricing page on October 9, 2026, in US dollars.
Paying
Paid plans open when Expiring Codes is listed in the Kit App Store. You'll upgrade from your settings, and change plan or cancel there with "Manage billing". Prices are in US dollars; sales tax or VAT is added where it applies. Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Not happy? Full refund within 14 days.
You also need a paid Kit plan, because Kit offers Visual Automations and apps on its paid plans only.
